This year's forum took place February 22-24 and focused on programs that enable women to access early detection services and breast cancer treatment. Walden serves OLBH as Mobile Mammography Services coordinator and is responsible for oversight and operations of the OLBH Mobile Health Center, a mobile coach designed to provide women access to mammography screenings. Walden has been employed at OLBH for nine years.

The charge for the seasonal vaccination is $20 and is covered by Medicare. If insured by Medicare, individuals should remember to bring their cards with them. The H1N1 shot is provided by the federal government and is free.

Donating blood is safe and relatively painless. Trained nurses conduct the donation process and sterile equipment is used. Donations can help people suffering from a variety of health problems including anemia, bone diseases, lung diseases, kidney diseases, leukemia and many others. OLBH assists with meals being delivered five days a week to elderly or disabled people with food being prepared by a variety of vendors and delivered by volunteers. Brown joined Kurt Jaenicke, M.D., and Rene Burchett in the practice. The only area flu clinic geared toward children, the event allows caregivers to have their children vaccinated in a "well" environment as opposed to a doctor's office where other children may be sick. In addition to the traditional vaccine, the clinic will offer Flumist, a nasal spray vaccine that is easier to administer to some children. Flu vaccine is recommended for children ages six months to 18 years regardless of whether a child has other chronic conditions.

Burton joined OLBH in 2001 and has worked as the manager of the OLBH Sleep Lab since February 2006. Burton graduated with a bachelor's degree from Ashworth College. She earned a registry in polysomnograph technology and is certified in respiratory therapy. During Burton's tenure with the OLBH Sleep Lab, the lab doubled in size and met the strict, nationwide guidelines that earned the lab honor of becoming the area's only accredited sleep facility.

Wilson, a mammographer at the OLBH Women's Center, started her OLBH career in 1985. Wilson graduated from Shawnee State University and received her radiologic technologist training at the university. She became a registered mammographer in 1981.


Initiated by Bon Secours Health System, Inc., the Good Help Award is presented quarterly to an employee who shows respect and caring toward patients, co-workers and visitors. The employee should be a person of honesty and integrity and one who demonstrates justice, stewardship and innovation.

The new center brings CT services to the Ironton community with hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Hospitals from across the state of Kentucky submit entries for consideration and judging in the annual Thoroughbred competition; 159 entries were submitted for 2008 with 16 Thoroughbreds awarded. She is a licensed nursing home administrator who has spent the past 11 years in management and administration.
