Free
Choesterol Screenings
Available from OLBH Community Healthwatch Partnership
Community
HealthWatch Partnership, the health ministry program of Our Lady of
Bellefonte Hospital, regularly offers free cholesterol screenings
at various locations throughout the community.
“By offering free, monthly cholesterol screenings, we hope to
raise awareness and educate individuals about the dangers of high
cholesterol,” Diana Williams, OLBH Community HealthWatch Partnership
director, said. “The majority of the people we screen who have
high total cholesterol readings have either never had a complete lipoprotein
profile completed, or it has been two to three years since they last
had a complete check performed.”
Williams adds the knowledge gained from free community health screenings
can help people to make better decisions about lifestyle choices.
“If a screening reveals that an individual has an elevated cholesterol
level, hopefully this will motivate he or she to begin lifestyle changes
that will improve their health before a full blown heart attack or
stroke occurs.”
