OLBH Same Day Surgery Center
The OLBH Same Day Surgery Center, located on the hospital campus, offers quality and convenience for patients requiring outpatient surgery.
"The center is designed especially for patients not requiring an overnight hospital stay after surgery," Barbara Rigsby, RN, BSN, OLBH Surgical Services nurse manager, said. "The Same Day Surgery Center provides access to the same standard of excellent surgical care available inside the hospital. Many procedures are performed at the center including hand, joint and shoulder repair, cataract removal and laparoscopic procedures just to name a few."
Staff and equipment are available for most surgical specialities including, but not limited to orthopedics, urology, endoscopy, ear, nose and throat, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology and podiatry. "The hospital's skillful surgeons, along with its outstanding surgical nursing and support staff, possess specialized knowledge and experience in diagnosis, treatment and postoperative care," Rigsby added. "Ongoing training for new techniques and equipment allow us to offer the most current surgery treatment options at both the hospital and at the Same Day Surgery Center."
Rigsby also notes the Same Day Surgery Center is a comprehensive, outpatient facility. "Not only does the facility provide same day surgery procedures, but also pre- and postoperative testing and care," Rigsby states. "Patients treated at the center recover in a comfortably monitored environment. Shortly after the procedure, with approval from their physician, patients can return home to their family."
